Azania Mosaka

azania8articleGrowing up Azania Mosaka considered herself somewhat of an expert on radio and television. Her passion and fascination paid off because today she boasts more than 15 years of an impressive career in broadcasting.  She was the first woman to host the breakfast show at a commercial station within the SABC. Azania paid her dues and worked her way up from the “graveyard” slot to afternoon then morning drive and she recently spent 6 years hosting one of the biggest mid-morning shows on Metro FM, Total Bliss. Creatively, she has developed captivating programs delivering popular features such as the addictive AAA (AaaaaaaarghAza…I’m in Agony). Her work ethic and professionalism caught the station’s attention from the day she joined Metro FM. “Reputation and building relationships is everything in this business. Being consistent and dependable allows people to trust you”.

Between managing the demands associated with being a radio and television presenter, a columnist and businesswoman, Azania also lends her talents as MC at corporate, media and entertainment events. Azania is also a producer and director of internal communications television for large organisations such as Sasol and Eskom through her production company Mile Productions. She has taken to the small screen as the presenter of entertainment and art shows Bassiq and Noted on SABC 3 as well as judging the talent search reality show Pop Stars.  Azania followed her passions once more and also hosted her own cooking show on SABC 3; “Cooking with Azania”. She is described as being eloquent, elegant, accessible and generous. A Communications Management graduate, Azania has successfully partnered with and represented respected brands such as Woolworths, Vaseline (shouldn’t they also be added under ambassador below?) and Citroen.  Well-respected in South African media, Azania was named one of Cosmopolitan Awesome Women of The Year 2003 and nominated in the Olay Iconic Woman in Media award.  An avid photographer herself, she has graced the covers of women’s(lifestyle perhaps?) magazines Destiny, True Love, Top Billing, Real and Drum.

She is a lover of art, laughter and love. As the busy single mother of two children she relaxes by reading, gardening, cooking, attending the theatre and visiting art museums and galleries. In 2013, Azania portrayed Christ in the film and photographic reinterpretation of Michael Angelo’s Pieta by award winning artist Kudzanai Chiurai.

“Achieving balance is important for a more fulfilling life”. Best known as a radio and television personality, she believes in “constantly challenging yourselfand dreaming big. Love what you do and enjoy life. Everything in moderation including moderation”.
